My Thoughts On '1922' Starring Thomas Jane

1922 is based on the Stephen King short story. The film centers around rancher Wilfred James (Thomas Jane) his wife Arlette (Molly Parker) and son Henry (Dylan Schmid)..

Wilfred owns 80 acres of land and Arlette owns 100 acres of land that were left to her by her father. Arlette wants to sell all the land and move to the big city. But Wilfred and Henry will not hear of it.. The two decide to kill Arlette in order to keep all the land. Witch ultimately sends them into madness and dark despair.

1922 is a psychological thriller about how ones man's greed and pride can destroy everything he loves around him. Thomas Jane is absolutely brilliant in this film.. Proving he is one of the better actors working today.. The primary focus of the story is on Thomas Jane's character witch doesn't give you the opportunity to get to know Wilfred's wife and son.. That is the only really downside of the movie.

The cinematography is gorgeous, you really become immersed with the scenery. 1922 is one of those films that makes you wonder why it didn't get a big screen release, it's really that good.

The flick does have a couple of pretty horrific scenes, but for the most part the movie relies on solid acting and a dreaded atmosphere.. This is not a jump scare fest..

I have been oh hum when it comes so-called Netflix Originals.. I didn't think The Babysitter, Little Evil, Death Note were all that good.. As far as Gerald's Game goes, I thought it was a much better film.. Just didn't love the last 20 mins of the film.

Grade: 8/10

Cast: Thomas Jane, Molly Parker, Dylan Schmid, Kaitlyn Bernard, Brian d'Arcy James and Neal McDonough. Written and Directed by Zak Hilditch
